Hana Tokyo is a casual family style restaurant with dim lights, warm woods, wood tables and comfortable seating. The chefs prepare dinner right in front of customers on the Hibachi grills. Hana Tokyo

Ready to try something new and different, practically in our own backyard? Hana Tokyo, located in the Foxchase Shopping Center, opened its doors to the public in December 2002 and has already developed a following. This Japanese restaurant offers many different selections, including sushi, tempura, teriyaki and hibachi-style dishes. Given the ariety of seafood, steak, chicken and vegetalbes, they can please patrons of all ages (children's menu available) and varying food preferences (vegetarians welcome).

The interior space has been delightfully finished with light maple floors and furnishings. You can belly-up to the sushi bar or be seated at one of the numerous hibachi-style open grill tables, which accommodate parties as large as eight.

The hibachi meal offers a succession of courses. The miso soup, which is light, clear and flavorful, is followed by a house salad topped with a tangy peanut dressing. Your chef for the night then steps behind the grill to perform the culinary choreography that makes this a unique dining experience. The flipping and twirling of knives and food provides the live entertainment that adds to your dining adventure. This show is particularly fun when dining with a group.

As your main dish sizzles in front of you, fried rice is prepared, zucchini, mush-rooms and bean sprouts are grilled and onions are formed into an erupting volcano. This healthy array is then delivered to your plate and served with dipping sauces to highlight each entree's flavor. Green tea, plum wine and sake martinis make for tasty accompaniments. You can end your meal with a unique dessert offering, such as red bean or tempura ice cream.

Throughout the meal, modern Japanese music plays in the background. And you can expect the owner to stop by your table to be sure that you are enjoying the experience.

Dining at Hana Tokyo is both convenient and entertaining. The menu is bountiful, the service is friendly and the prices are reasonable. You can easily park in the lot out front... or walk from Cameron Station! Gift certificates are available, and they cater as well.
